Minister of Defense and National Service visits IMCTC Headquarters

His Excellency Hassan Rasheed, Minister of Defence and National Service of the Republic of Maldives visited the Headquarters of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), on 29th June 2026.

The Minister was received by Maj. Gen. Abdullah Al Qurashi, Deputy Military Commander of IMCTC.  

The Minister was briefed on the Coalition’s key programmes and initiatives across its four domains: ideological, media, military, and counter-terrorism financing.

He was also introduced to the Coalition’s specialized capacity-building programmes aimed at strengthening coordination and integration among member states. The programs also enhance their readiness to combat terrorism and extremism in line with international best practices.

The Minister was further briefed on the Coalition’s initiatives implemented in the Maldives, including the "Media Professionals for Peace" initiative in the media domain, the "Prevention and Capacity Building for Imams and Preachers" initiative in the ideological domain, and the "Competency and Cyber" initiative in the military domain.

The Minister was on an official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the invitation of the Minister of Defence of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

During his tour of the IMCTC, the Minister was accompanied by His Excellency Ahmed Sareer, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Maldives to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
