A Certificate of Identity (CI) is issued as an emergency travel document for Maldivian citizens who:

  1. Are newborns without a passport
  2. Have lost their passport

  3. Have expired or damaged passports

     

This document allows one-time travel back to the Maldives, subject to verification.
