Ambassador 

Thoriq Ibrahim serves as the Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to the United Arab Emirates. In this role, Ambassador Thoriq is dedicated to strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries, exploring areas for mutual collaboration, and strengthening the people-to-people connections across the two countries.

Ambassador Thoriq previously served as the Minister of Tourism and Environment from February 2025 to April 2026. Prior to this, he served as the Minister of Climate Change, Environment, and Energy from 2023 - 2025 and as the Minister of Environment and Energy from 2013 - 2018. During his tenure at the Cabinet, Minister Thoriq oversaw tourism policy planning and implementation, environmental conservation, climate change management, and the provision of energy, water & sanitation, and waste management services. He also supervised key regulatory and operational agencies affiliated with the ministry, including the Environmental Regulatory Authority, the Utility Regulatory Authority, the Maldives Meteorological Service, and the Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve Office.

Ambassador Thoriq holds a BEng (Hons) in Building Services Engineering from the Loughborough University of Technology (UK), an MSc in Building Science from National University of Singapore.
