Issuance of Birth Certificate
For Non-Residents to get a UAE birth certificate for your newborn, register the birth with the hospital or relevant health authority within 30 days. Since you do not have an Emirates ID, you will use your passports instead.
Prepare these core documents:
- Birth Notification from the hospital (original, stamped, and signed).
- Parents' Passports (original and copies, including the residency/visa pages).
- Marriage Certificate It must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Embassy of Maldives in UAE and the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA). It is advisable to do the necessary attestations beforehand to ensure the Birth Certificate can be issued in a timely manner.
- Parents' entry visas Can be obtained by physically attending a GDRFA Office. It is advisable to obtain this before the Mother is admitted at hospital for birth, as it is a must to be physically present at the GDRFA Office to obtain this.
Issuance of Certificate of Identity for the newborn
To obtain a Certificate of Identity (Temporary Travel Document) for the newborn to travel to Maldives, the parents should apply to the Embassy by emailing to abudhabi.consular@foreign.gov.mv
The following documents should be emailed with the request:
- UAE Birth Certificate must be attested from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).
- Parents' Passport Copies
- Parents Marriage Certificate
- Confirmed Flight Tickets (of the parent and the newborn)
- Passport Photo of the Newborn As per Maldives Immigration Passport Photo Guideline
