Studying in UAE

Student visa

A student can stay in the UAE for studying, either under the sponsorship of his/her parent, who should be a resident of the UAE or under the sponsorship of the accredited university/college he/she is studying at. Universities facilitate the process of getting a visa for the students.

A student is not required to take a prior visa before travelling. Students can apply for visa through the respective University after arriving in the UAE.

Please contact the University before the travel to find out the required documents for the visa process. UAE usually requires these documents to be accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, and Embassy of Maldives in UAE before submission. Any Educational Documents issued by a Maldivian entity needs to be accredited by the Ministry of Education of Maldives as well. Hence, having these accreditions completed prior to travel is helpful, as there is a timelimit on applying for visa once you arrive in UAE.

Residence visa for families of university students

Family members of foreign students studying at the UAE’s universities may stay in the UAE, as long as they can afford suitable housing. The Government permitted such a move with the aim to achieve moral stability for the students.
