Travel Document (Certificate of Identity)
The Embassy with authorization from Maldives Immigration, issues Temporary Travel Documents (Certificate of Identity) to Maldivians who do not have a passport to travel back to Maldives. Temporary Travel Documents (Certificate of Identity) are issued to Newborn babies and Maldivians who have lost their passports. A Temporary Travel Document (Certificate of Identity) can only be used to travel back to Maldives.
Issuance of Certificate of Identity for a newborn
To obtain a Certificate of Identity (Temporary Travel Document) for the newborn to travel to Maldives, the parents should apply to the Embassy by emailing to abudhabi.consular@foreign.gov.mv
The following documents should be emailed with the request:
- UAE Birth Certificate must be attested from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).
- Parents' Passport Copies
- Parents Marriage Certificate
- Confirmed Flight Tickets (of the parent and the newborn)
- Passport Photo of the Newborn As per Maldives Immigration Passport Photo Guideline
Issuance of Certificate of Identity in case of a Lost Passport
To obtain a Certificate of Identity (Temporary Travel Document) to travel back to Maldives in case of a lost passport, the person should apply to the Embassy by emailing to abudhabi.consular@foreign.gov.mv
The following documents should be emailed with the request:
- A Request Letter by the applicant
- Passport Copy of the lost passport
- Police Report of loss of Passport
- Confirmed Flight Ticket
- Passport Photo As per Maldives Immigration Passport Photo Guideline
