About The High Commission

The High Commission of the Republic of Maldives to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland was officially inaugurated by His Excellency Mr Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, former President of the Republic of Maldives, on 27 October 1995. The establishment of the High Commission in London marked a significant milestone in the development of bilateral relations between the Maldives and the United Kingdom.

His Excellency Mr Ahmed Zaki became the first High Commissioner of the Republic of Maldives to the United Kingdom when he presented his Letters of Credence to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 20 March 1996. Since then, the High Commission has continued to represent the Republic of Maldives in the United Kingdom under the leadership of successive High Commissioners.
