Attestation Services

The High Commission provides attestation services for documents issued in the Republic of Maldives.

Institutions in the United Kingdom may require Maldivian documents to be attested by the relevant Maldivian authorities before they are accepted. The High Commission can attest only documents issued in the Maldives.

Attestation involves the certification of documents by placing the High Commission's official seal on a document and/or issuing a letter confirming its authenticity.

The High Commission provides the following attestation services:

1. Certifying that a copy of a document is a true copy of the original.
2. Attesting the signing of a legal document intended for use in the Maldives, such as a Power of Attorney or an agreement to be used in a Maldivian court.

Please note: The High Commission cannot confirm the legal validity or contents of a document. For example, while the High Commission can verify that a Power of Attorney has been signed by an individual, it cannot verify that the contents of the document confer legal rights on a specific person.
